Point Sales Tool/ SparkSMB

Soon after moving into the development department at DataSphere/Sinclair, my direct manager and the GM of our group Delane pulled me aside over coffee. He said, "I've got a new project that I've been kicking around in my head, and I want to see if you want to start this up." We chatted about creating a new experience for Sales to switch up and improve our internal tools as well as improve our bottom line. We imagined a slick system that would instantly hook the customer, inform them of the product offerings, and convince them to purchase a marketing package quickly and easily. I said "YES, I would like to work on this, this sounds like an exciting project" and I got to work.

Work there was! Initially working in our marketing department I had time to learn about the product, the services, and how we interacted with customers through the sales process so I had a good footing to begin this journey. I started from the ground up, initially working through the user's journey through this imaginary tool, then moving on to wireframes, content organization and creation, design concepts, and production. Along the way, I educated internal team members on our new toolset, collaborated with rank and file sales team members and managers to solve problems and absorb their regular input, gathered people and resources in our dev department as needed to push the project on to next steps, changed direction on early decisions several times, and modified and improved on the tool top to bottom more times than I can count. After launching the 1st version, I worked closely with sales to educated them on use, quickly address issues and bugs as they arose, and learned many lessons from their use of the tool. I went on to implement an array of upgrades including emails, a rep dashboard, content improvements, station integration, and more.

Concept

I'm a note taker. I jot down ideas. I save things. This flow sketch was the culmination of the initial discussion for the tool eventually internally nicknamed Point. This little piece of paper was the beginning of large changes for our sales process that would affect nearly everyone at our company in one way or another.
